ABOUT CENTERED SPEECH

Sarah Van Auken, MS, CCC-SLP, TSSLD

Sarah Van Auken is a speech-language pathologist who has experience providing speech and language services to the adult and pediatric populations in schools, inpatient and outpatient medical facilities, and various clinical settings. She has many years of experience evaluating and treating pediatrics and adults, and creating person-centered treatment plans. Through a somatic and nervous system regulation lens, her specialty lies in helping performers and other professionals, as well as children, heal their voices and refine their vocal prowess. Her focus includes speech, language, dysphagia, voice, respiration and nervous system regulation, orofacial myology, social skills, executive functioning, accent modification, and public speaking. 

Sarah holds a BFA in acting and worked as a professional performer for a number of years. She continued her education to become an SLP at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Her eclectic background and love for the human experience imbue her work as an SLP with compassion, openness, understanding, connection, and creativity. She strongly believes in evidence based, person-centered treatment and collaborates with patients and their loved ones to help them achieve their individual speech and language goals.

As the director of Centered Speech Services, Sarah specializes in voice therapy, and offers comprehensive speech and language evaluations and treatment to adult and pediatric patients both in her office and via tele-therapy.
